About the Civil Department

The department of Civil Engineering was established in the year of 2009 with an intake of 60 students. The department creates the students capable of determining and solving engineering issues with professional and moral responsibility. The department is committed to impart not only the technical education to our students but also the leadership qualities to handle the complex scenarios. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members with phenomenal scholastic record from eminent Universities and well-equipped laboratories with the state-of-the-art facilities.

Welcome Message

An affectionate welcome to the Civil Engineering discipline. Civil Engineering is the second-oldest engineering discipline after military engineering. Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of physically built works like roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings. India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru used the term Temples of Modern India while inaugurating Civil Engineering work, Bhakra Nangal Dam which facilitated the progress of India. These structures emphasize the importance of Civil Engineer. Civil engineers are important to the society as they are often referred as ‘Builders of Nation’.
The Department, established to impart analytical and application skills in various fields of Civil Engineering, has been transforming youngsters into professionals. The students of Civil Engineering are exposed to various fields such as Structural Engineering, Construction Technology and Management, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and many more which enable the students to take up a professional career or higher education of their choice. The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the best, in the vicinity, bestowed with highly qualified faculty members and excellent infrastructure.

Program Outcomes (PO)

PO1: Engineering knowledge:

Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem analysis:

Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3: Design /development of solutions:

Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems:

Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern tool usage:

Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: The engineer and society:

Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to mechanical engineering practice.

PSO 1:

Utilize basic concepts, methods, recent science technologies, software’s and codes of practices to perform well in the areas of planning, analysis and design related to Civil Engineering practices.

PSO 2:

Prepare detailed drawings and estimates as per standard specifications, reports, walk through views, interact with clients, manage workers, work in a team and executes construction works.

PSO 3:

Graduates will have requisite understanding on impact of civil engineering projects and processes in a global, economic and societal context.

Our department has faculty with 4 diversified specializations.
The department has four student chapters, (CESA, AKSA, MTM & ELC) (Civil Engineering Students Association, Abdul Kalam Students Association, Muthamizh Mandram & English Literature Club)
Students are involved in funded projects from TNSCST (Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology).
S.Subalakshmi of 2015-2019 batch student got university rank &ranked 5^th position. Mr.T.Muthian of 2010-2014 batch , Ms.T.Gomathi & Ms.C.Joshna Jullia of 2014-2018 batch got university rank.
Our students are working in various government sectors like Highway Department, Public works Department, Rural Development & CPWD as Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer, Surveyor and Drafting officer.
Students are moulded to the requirements of the industry through industry-based curriculum, internship, extramural activies, project-based learning, outside class hours learning, skill centric learning and Mini projects.
Research and Development cell to promote innovative thinking and social skills among the students.
Department of Civil Engineering organizes Industrial Visit in each semester to upskill the practical knowledge of Students.
The department conducts a Survey camp by yearly after the fourth semester making the students to understand the field technical activities based upon their classroom learnings.
80% of students have got placement in MNC & core company.
Our student Mr.Joe Daniel has placed in Biju’s with a highest salary package of 10 lakhs per Annum.
Our 2009-2013 &2018-2022 batch students got 100 % graduation.
The Department has signed MoU in reputed companies for the beneficiary of students.
By yearly Around 90% of students has doing certification courses.
Faculty members are continuously doing NPTEL courses and got Star Award.
In each semester the department conducting Value Added course to upskill in Civil Engineering Software’s.
The department has continuously published patent in every year.
Around 80% of our faculty members received Reviewer and acting as an Editorial Board member in various journals.
Countable number of books are published by our faculty members in standard Publications.
More number of papers published in conference by our department faculty members.
Faculty members are actively participating and organizing FDP every year.
